Hanging table for balcony

Choosing the right balcony drop-leaf table

Mounting system: A drop-leaf table is generally attached to the balcony railing or balustrade. Check that the mounting system is compatible with the shape and thickness of your balustrade. Some models have adjustable brackets to accommodate different configurations.

Dimensions and available space: A drop-leaf balcony table provides a practical surface without taking up floor space. Measure the available width and check the depth of the tabletop to maintain a comfortable walkway.

Drop-leaf mechanism: Folding models allow the tabletop to be lowered when not in use. This feature is particularly useful for small apartment or condo balconies.

Materials and durability: Drop-leaf tables made of metal, wood, or composite materials offer different design possibilities. Check the weight capacity, weather resistance, and the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations.

Frequently asked questions

Can a drop-leaf table be installed on any balcony?

No. Compatibility depends on the balustrade, the mounting system, and your building's restrictions. Check the dimensions of the bracket and the applicable rules before installation.

Can a drop-leaf balcony table stay outside during the winter?

This depends on the materials and the manufacturer's recommendations. In Quebec, it is best to protect or store the table during the winter to limit wear caused by snow, frost, and moisture.
